Point Zero established in 1997 as a result of community concerns over the large number of young people congregating in Double Bay and adjacent areas in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney at night, especially on weekends and school holidays.
The community was concerned about:
The anti-social behaviour of these young people.
Their substance use and abuse.
The poly-drug use amongst these young people.
To address these concerns, the organisation gained donations and sponsorship from the community, and leased a fully equipped Ford Transit Van, from which an outreach service to the young people could be conducted.
